Your Privacy Matters. Out & About is committed to protecting your personal data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

1. Who We Are

Out & About ("we", "us", "our") operates a public business directory and travel application. We act as the Data Controller for the personal information collected through our platform.

2. Personal Data We Collect

When you register a business on our platform, we collect and process the following personal information:

We handle two sets of data. First, what you personally submit during sign-up — your business name, address, email, WhatsApp, website — we keep that encrypted, and if you ever quit you can request deletion through the app and we'll remove your private data. Second, basic public info — category, description, maps link — already floating around Google; we pull that in fairly and keep it listed even if you leave because it's public.

What we collect and why

Private (you submit): business name, address, email, WhatsApp, website. Used to run your account, contact you, and show accurate listings. Stored encrypted.

Public (already out there): category, description, maps link. Used to keep the directory useful; stays visible even if you leave since it is public info.

Device Permissions and Sensor Data

Our app requests permission to access the following device sensors and capabilities:

  • Location (GPS): Used to show your position on the map, find nearby points of interest, and provide walking directions. Your location data is only used locally on your device and is not stored on our servers unless you explicitly enable location sharing features.
  • Microphone: Used for voice-to-text search functionality. Audio is processed locally or sent to Google's speech recognition service and is not stored by Out & About.
  • Camera and Photos: Used when you choose to upload photos to points of interest or earn Snap & Earn rewards. Photos are only sent to our servers when you explicitly select and upload them. You control which photos are shared.
You can revoke these permissions at any time in your phone's settings (Settings > Apps > Out & About > Permissions). If you deny permissions, the associated features may not work, but the rest of the app will function normally.

Deletion and retention

Private data: delete on request via the app and we will erase it. Public directory bits may stay published for accuracy.

Your rights

Ask what we hold, correct it, or delete your private data. GDPR (Europe) and CCPA (California) apply. We do not sell your personal info.
